  1. I dunno what to say.. I actually don't really like it. However, this only judged by the small section we can see here.

I'll probably be clapping my hands when the whole thing is revealed.

The number of "big fires" in the real world (the world outside paintings) which look like this and the mansion with fire behind it.....

  6. yeah, it seems more of "kid a" than anything... not that it's not new, just that it reminds me of the paintings made in the kid a period.
    specially this one http://home.student.uu.se/hehi1133/Wallpaper%20I.jpg

anyway, this is a great painting, altougth i doubt it will be part (at least a major part) of the new artwork, wich i consider will be made mostly by the "etchings" and the houses, as we've already seen lately.

how freaky. this actually looks like a painting I'M doing for my art course in school. the snow and dark blue sky especially. the way the snow looks is actually almost identical. get out of my head!

harhar. but it looks interesting. the flames look a bit weird, but I never did like blue and yellow close together.

  10. glendawhatshername, I really like what you said about the phoenixes rising out of the fire. I think it would be correct since, like the floods, the fires also bring a renewal. There is always some light in the darkness. I wouldn't mind if the cover art were like this... very Kid A, but this is their most magnificent artwork style, in my opinion. This is new, I guess, since there's a photo of Mr. Donwood at one of the mansions doing similar artwork. So who knows? Maybe the cover art will look like this. :-)

Pretty. I love red. It's a powerful colour.

looks to me like, someone given infinite amount of paint, and let use it as he wishes to. told not to bother about anything else but cooling his heart. :) those balancing and contrasting colors. really cools my heart. fire is amazing. the colors look mixed but orange and red still seem apart, to make that solid fire feeling. and red paint vividly runs down on the stone-like part of the picture, gives a liquid illusion to the fire. but the upper yellow parts of the flames are dirty mixed with the dark sky, greened, gives a more unfinished look. full of nature. nothing humanmade. looks wild for now.

i understand what many of you are saying about the kida resemblence, but to me, and i say this with as little ego as i can muster/un muster, it looks new and shows us something we have never seen before regardless of red/yellow/blues used. hell, we could go to any random gallery, find red/yellow/blue paintings and call it kida stuff if we so desired. it's not just about color, i think.

to me it's new and shiny. BUT then again it's basically the same ol' shit stanley has been putting out, repackaged and sold. SHIT PAINTING stanley! I'd buy it though....but then again I'm a moron...kidding! I love it.

The effect of this piece is ambigiously positive.

To me, it looks like phoenix birds rising from the flames...

*In Mythology, the phoenix is a bird that at the end of its life-cycle builds itself a nest then ignites it. Both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises. The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible — a symbol of fire and divinity.
